So I am back….

This blog has been a long time in coming, I know. It’s been almost two months since I’ve been home and I can’t believe that it has gone so fast.

It has been great being home, I’ve missed everyone here, but now it seems the roles have switched. After spending 11 months with my squad it’s them that I am missing now that I am home. The saying about ‘the grass being greener on the other side’ feels pretty applicable to me right now. It’s hard in some ways being home. I left part of my heart in 11 other places across the world while I was gone, and when my squad and I parted ways at the airport, I felt it splitting apart across the nation… and Canada.

But I know this is where G-d has me, at least for now. I don’t know for sure how long G-d will have me here. I keep trying to remind myself of the verse that has basically been a guide to me for the last 5 years of my life.

‘In his heart a man plans out his ways, but the Lord guides his steps’ Proverbs 16:9

I have a very basic idea of what I have in mind for down the road, but it’s the details that are a little fuzzy for me…. but that’s the steps.

I think of it being a lot like hiking. Especially when your on a new trail there are so many times that you reach a spot and you think that you can see the top ahead, but as you take a few more steps you realize there is much further to go. Sometimes you may even decide to go to another path entirely, but it’s those little steps that G-d guides us on. It’s those steps that make us change our mind as to what we need to do next.

Sometimes we have in mind going to one peak, but then G-d guides our steps so we can see another, knowing we’ll change our direction when we do see it. We plan our ways, for sure, but G-d sometimes guides our steps so we change to plan B. The important thing is to not worry so much about where we are going, but to just go, knowing that G-d is going to guide you as you go along.

On a side note, I am hoping to make a get together in the next couple of weeks to share everything that I learned and did this year. So I’ll let you all know when that is ASAP.
