I know our walk with The Lord isn’t all about a feeling. But, if I am honest it sure makes walking with The Lord easier when that feeling is there.
World Race was definetly one of those really fruitful times in my life where I felt G-d in so many different ways. After I got home that all changed.
I can’t tell you what it was. I was still pretty well plugged in with a good small group. I was helping with my ministry and so I was still experiencing G-d working. But the feeling was gone. For whatever reason, I just didn’t feel G-d anymore.
Over the race I was reading about 6 chapters a day in my bible, 1000 pages a month mainly in other theology books, fasting at least 3 times a month, praying almost nonstop.
I was loving every moment of it… But when I returned home suddenly that drive, that enjoyment that feeling of the Lords presence was lost.
It took months before anything changed. I was deep into a desert that seemed to have no end. No amount of bible reading, podcast listening, prayer, or even fasting seemed to make it end.
Some of you have experienced this, some of you haven’t. If you haven’t, just wait, you will, it happens to everyone. For those of you that have or those of you in it, I wish I could tell you some secret formula. Some procedure to follow that would bring you out of this time, but there isn’t anything.
But there is one song that comes to mind when I think of that time. Rodney Atkins has a song called
if you are going thru hell
check it out… I thin it about sums up my thoughts…
Welcome to the desert. You are not alone.
